Just Like Selma is a national civic engagement campaign built around the same-titled new social justice hymn that honors the legacy of the 1965 Selma voting rights marches and calls communities to renewed civic participation in this critical moment.
Composed by award-winning producer Nolan Williams Jr., Just Like Selma echoes the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the enduring spirit of Civil Rights anthems like We Shall Overcome, blending history, hope, and harmony into a call for action.
Why This Campaign Matters Now
The struggle for voting rights that defined Selma is not just history — it’s a present and urgent reality. Just Like Selma bridges the past and present by honoring the courage of those who marched across the Edmund Pettus Bridge and inspiring communities to actively engage in democracy and justice today.
To that end, this campaign unites faith and civic leaders in affirming that protecting and expanding civic participation is both a right and a responsibility — one that requires remembrance and action.
